Matt and Jenn wanted a small wedding with a vibe they connect with so they choose the mid-century throwback  “Bardo Lounge” located in the historic Grand Lake District of Oakland Ca.   Bardo has all the  Nostalgia ladened style you could hope for as a photographer, but with very little light.  I had to use a flash for nearly every shot.   

I love natural light and using the sun to backlight and fill my subjects, so this was a fun challenge.  I used multiple flashes on and off camera and experimented with tilt shift lenses. 

Jenn and Matt have an incredible community around them.  It was an amazing night of cocktails, dancing and of-course, flash photography.
